Do I Need Protective Clothes When Moving House?

03 September 2014

If you are about to move home then it can be a big thing to consider what to wear during the move. The importance of kitting yourself out properly means that all throughout the process of moving house, you can be sure that you are doing everything in your power to make the move as easy as possible. With the right clothes, you can ensure that all possible problems are eliminated and that there is nothing that can possibly go wrong. One of the most important things to consider is whether you want to use protective wear during the move. But with so much to think about, will you need protective wear during the move?

One of the important things to think about is the possibility of anything falling on top of your head during a move. This could be something like a box on the top of a cupboard or a poorly stacked piece of furniture. The usual method of protecting the head during such times is to make sure that a hard hat is worn and that there is no possibility of something coming into contact with just a head. However, in many circumstances, this can actually be overkill and there are very few circumstances in which a hard hat (or most forms of protective headwear) would be required during a house move.

Far more of a pressing matter is the idea of gloves. Your hands will be used during the move a huge amount and the kind of lifting and usage which you will make of them can mean that you will need to find a way in which to protect against damage and difficulties. The best way in which to this is to wear protective work gloves. These can be heavy items, made out of a number of different materials. Whether it is leather, fabric, plastic or rubber, the idea of protective gloves is to ensure that sharp edges and constant wear do nothing to affect the healthiness of your skin. The decision to wear gloves is typically down to how much heavy lifting you will be doing, with those who know that they will be doing a lot of work often opting to go with the gloves. Those who have hired professional movers will find that they don’t do nearly as much lifting and that their hands are not subject to as much lifting. As such, it can often be worth having the gloves and putting them on if you feel that your hands are beginning to get affected by the moving process.

In a similar vein, the choice of footwear which you make is often one which can be both easy and protective. By investing in steel toe capped boots, you can make sure that your toes are protected against the possibility of dropped items falling onto your feet and against any damage which might be done to your toes. Because such boots are easy to forget about, you can simply put them on and go about your general moving activities. That means that this kind of protection is easy enough to use without having to think about it too much.

As well as the more protective items, it can be worth making sure that the clothes you wear are not ones which will mean a great deal should they come into a rough time. With the dust and the dirt which can easily be stirred up by a house removal, make sure that the clothes that you wear (trousers and t shirt) are ones which you don’t mind getting a little grubby. With the right outfit, you can make sure that your move is as easy as possible.
